Adeola Adedipe, a lawyer hired by Abulrasheed Maina, a former member of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), has applied to abandon the court in his pending money laundering trial.

Multiloaded reports that Maina’s lawyer, who also represents the business of the former PRTT Chairman, Popular Input Property and Investment Ltd, told a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Wednesday, at the resumption of proceedings in the matter, that he had filed a notice signaling his intention to withdraw from further defending his client.

Adedipe, who said his brief was not mastered (his client was not paid), apologized to the presided over Justice Okon Abang by the federal court for being absent from the trial during any of the recent adjournments.

Maina’s lawyer’s apologies came after Justice Okon Abang ruled on the previous day that Adedipe deserted the trial by being absent in court, adding that the notice the lawyer claimed to have submitted was not in the court’s file.
